The first round of the Swiss part of YCS:DGA gave us an epic duel just from the name of the duelists. Both duelists have had incredible streaks in official wars, recalling Blaze's 5-0 vs. Duel Academy and Vongola's 5-0 vs. Team Splash. Two great duelists collided, but only one would emerge as a winner.
The Rock-Paper-Scrissors battle was won by Vongola, who decided to go first. His hand contained Doomcaliber Knight, Cyber Dragon, E-Emergency Call, Elemental Hero Stratos and Seven Tools of the Bandit , while Blaze had a responding hand of Pot of Duality, Book of Moon, XX-Saber Faultroll, Trap Stun, X-Saber Passiul. Vongola drew Mirror Force, summoned Doomcaliber Knight and set two cards. Blaze drew XX-Saber Boggart Knight, then activated Pot of Duality, revealing Saber Hole, XX-Saber Emmersblade and a Dark Hole, which he retained and shuffled the rest of the cards back into the deck. Then he activated the fresh Dark Hole to destroy Doomcaliber Knight and set two cards face-down and a monster soon followed.
It seemed to be neck in neck, but Vongola topdecked Gemini Spark! Then he Special Summoned Cyber Dragon, followed by an E-Emergency Call that got him Elemental Hero Neos Alius. Vongola summoned the 1900 ATK beatstick and started the battle phase with and attack from the Hero straight into Blaze's X-Saber Passiul! This is where the topdecking really came in handy, Vongola activated Gemini Spark, destroying Passiul and drawing a card in the process, also clearing the field for his Cyber Dragon(Blaze 5900).
Blaze drew and set a spell or trap card. On Vongola's turn, Thunder King Rai-Oh was summoned, only to be removed from the game by a Bottomless Trap Hole that Blaze drew last turn! Cyber Dragon made it through to Blaze's life points eventually(Blaze 3800)
Blaze drew, set a spell or trap and ended.
Vongola drew, then summoned Elemental Hero Stratos, only to see it fall to Blaze's second Bottomless Trap Hole! Still, Stratos's effect got Vongola Elemental Hero Neos Allius, and also he tried to attack Blaze with Cyber Dragon for the third time, but was stopped dead in his tracks by a Book of Moon!
Blaze drew, then activated Trap Stun, only to be stopped by a Seven Tools of the Bandit!(Vongola 7000). Stunned, Blaze summoned XX-Saber Boggart Knight, trying to destroy Vongola's Cyber Dragon, but Boggart fell to a Mirror Force! With nothing else to do, Blaze set a spell or trap and ended.
On the next turn, Vongola flip-summoned Cyber Dragon and summoned Elemental Hero Neos Alius to win game 1!
Blaze was defeated by an unfortunate set of circumstances, but was determined to make up the lost ground via side-decking.
Blaze started the second duel with Saber Hole, Mystical Space Typhoon, Solemn Warning, Pot of Duality and Giant Trunade, his draw giving him a Mirror Force. Pot of Duality gave him a choice between Dark Hole, Trap Stun and X-Saber Passiul. He chose the X-Saber, which he summoned in ATK mode, also setting four cards.
Vongola tried summoning Elemental Hero Stratos after his draw, but it fell to a Saber Hole. With nothing to do, he set 3 cards, but Blaze activated Mystical Space Typhoon in Vongola's End Phase destroying E-Emergency Call!
Blaze drew, attacked with Passiul(Vongola 7900) and ended.
Vongola drew Elemental Hero Neos Alius, which fell to a Solemn Warning(Blaze 6000), so he ended.
Blaze drew, switched Passiul to defense mode and ended.
Vongola drew, inflicting 1000 damage to Blaze via Passiul's effect(Blaze 5000), summoned Elemental Hero Neos Allius and set a spell or trap card.
Blaze drew and passed.
Vongola drew Dark Hole, and inflicted more damage to Blaze from Passiul(Blaze 4000). Then he activated Super Polymerization! Honest was sent to the graveyard, while Neos Alius and Passiul were combined into Elemental Hero Gaia! But Vongola wasn't done. He revealed one of his face-down's as being Miracle Fusion! Elemental Heroes Stratos and Alius were removed from the game, bringing Elemental Hero the Shining! It seemed like it was all over for Blaze, with just one spell or trap facing two major beatsticks. But that face-down proved to be Mirror Force! At this point, Vongola seemed to be at a disadvantage, and normally, that would be the case, but Vongola revealed a Starlight Road to end the first feature match of YCS:DGA!
Vongola-x goes past Blaze's X-Saber deck with an explosive finish provided by his Elemental Hero deck!
