Suggestion regarding the new system.

Since the new system was implemented there has been a decrease in posts and discussions of decks (because no one other than staff can actually post them...). I suggest that there be an alternative way for Freshman to be able to enter the Black Rose Violet dorm. Perhaps there should be standardized homework assignments available then when completed correctly yield experience that counts towards movement into the dorm. This way people don't have to spend days attempting to find people willing to have arena matches just to be able to post decks and get some help and discussions flowing. Completion of yugioh related assignments are rarely done by the people whom just join, post a deck, get fixes and leave, they're done by people who wish to actually move up the dorm system.

well, it's so easy to get to BRD, it should take no time and the Deck places and so on are back up, and we wanted this system just so that Tester/Teachers have more time to do articles, and don't waste every hour of their day testing ppl..

If it's so easy to get to BRV, why is there only 1 person in that group? Also the deck section is only up for Staff, Vesta and RyuheiAoi, I'd hardly call that being back up to the majority. I'm not saying staff should constantly be dueling and handing out ruling questions to new members, I think new members should be able to complete a set few assignments for Exp to more easily get into BRV than finding 10 random people to have matches with.

member feedback is always appreciated. i'm going to have to agree with Ruler though, winning 10 duels is easy, but it also keeps the inactive people away. you ofc are active, but it's only fair to reduce everyone's rank since it is now much harder to get into Archfiend and Stardust. i'm not sure what you're referring to by homework assignments, but we have similar things already going on (or about to) with card making, card of the week, riddle of the week, and quiz of the week competitions as alternate ways to boost points and exp. if you have other suggestions besides those we will ofc consider it. also we are about to start a tournament and we're considering live tournaments too since we have many members these days. note also that you gain points and exp even if you lose the duel. it may be a little slow for a week or two, but those who are actually active such as yourself will be in blackrose in no time flat. note that no staff has posted in the deck section. we didn't change it to monopolize help, on the contrary, we're not using it until more people gain that ability to be more fair

pss: the reason only one is in there is because he worked hard to get there. which is the reason we changed the system, you now have to work hard to be the "best"

I was a staff member on an older now relatively inactive duel academy site (http://unitedduelacademy.freeforums.org/index.php) but back when we had a dorm system, we had "homework" assignments for members to do that were worth points towards moving from one dorm to the next. These were assignments that usually encompassed fixing a purposefully poorly constructed deck and having the member explain in detail why they are making each choice, simple metagame analysis, predictions on the impact of upcoming cards to the TCG, etc. These gave the staff a way to not have to directly test new members (since they would complete these on their own time), and simply grade the assignment once private messaged.

As someone who actually had to duel my way into Black Rose, I can confirm it's not -that- hard to do. However, I do believe that there should be other, small ways of introducing points to the system. If we used the Homework example, I don't think you should be able to do homework assignments after you've hit dueling level two, making you eligible for Archfiend. At that point, it should be set to dueling only, since Archfiend members should have the skill to win their duels.

Also, as more and more people become Black Rose and above, it will be even easier for other members to get there. Losing twice to me now grants you with 15 EXP, rather than 10. If you lost to DE eight times, you'd be there even faster than beating ten Freshmen. And until some other Black Rose members arrive, you're all worth less to me (With the exception of a Vesta member like DE), which means we have mutual reasons to duel each other - I want to keep climbing, and you can all target me for the bonus EXP, even from losing.

I also agree that people should have to work to get into the upper dorms but basing it almost strictly on activity doesn't benefit the forum too much either. The people who duel the most (win or lose) get the opportunity to go take the dorm placement tests the fastest, the ruling questions can almost always be solved with a combination of boolean operators with google and yugioh wikia so all you have to do is not get sacked or misplay in your match and you pass the test. I think there needs to be some other more indepth analysis of how the player thinks when considering dorm promotion than just activity coupled with google skillz and not playing a monster before you play dark hole.

I don't see why the homeworks should be elliminated for the higher dorms, they should just be made more difficult. Most people with a low level of dueling skill can't do an indepth metagame analysis explaining why Dark World didn't perform up to snuff, but a person with a high level (in the SDB dorm) should be able to, and thusly that assignment should be made only available to members of that dorm.

I have nothing against making higher-level homework for the higher-level dorms, as long as that is actually what is being done. I just don't want to see higher-level members just getting homework assignments that ask to explain SEGOC in your own words, or something like that, which is something a new player might actually have to research and learn.

No one would like that lol. Totally agree with you, it would need to be in ascending order of difficulty from one dorm to the next.

this is the very reason we changed it. the archfiend test is entirely based on dueling situations and rulings that would be hard to find on google. also...they don't have TIME to search on google, they only have 30 minutes. they may be able to cheat on a few but then they won't finish which means they fail since they need 8/10 right and explained well. however adding this is a good idea i think, at the very least it will prep people for the Archfiend and Stardust tests
