Ironically enough it has a good matchup against the most popular deck of this format. Evilswarm Ophion makes Shaddoll Fusion useless, by preventing the summoning of both Winda and Construct respectively. If you happen to play against the Artifact version, it also cancels Moralltach and friends and you can only imagine with how many dead drawn cards your opponent is going to end up with. It also blocks the chaos monster bosses, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning and Dark Armed Dragon, too. Forbidden Chalice further helps you to negate the effects of face-down monsters in the damage step, while also, similar to BTS, stopping any other threatening monster effect , be it Tour Guide from the Underworld, Satellarknight Deneb, or Mathematician. While your Burning Abyss matchup isn't exactly in your favor, your searchable Forbidden Lances tremendously help out against their dangerous trap cards. In addition to 3 copies of Vanity's Emptiness, you are also main decking Dimensional Fissure, Macro Cosmos and Soul Drain in this deck; a whopping 6 floodgates to further terrorize Shaddolls and Burning Abyss. They can conflict with your own deck, but they completely lock your opponent out of the game, which is a good deal, in my opinion. Satella is a terrible matchup, so I included a couple of Wiretaps to deal with some of their traps, preferably Stellarnova Alpha, accordingly. Most of the side deck space is focused on your harder matchups in the form of Satellarknight and Burning Abyss. In summary, I must say that Evilswarm are a cheap, decent Anti-Meta option now, at least for smaller tournaments like Locals or Regionals. | |
