| Hi fellow DGA members
Today I want to start something new! I have no more ideas for new articles and I have no ideas yet for a new “what will pros do” so I will start writing some rants and guess what? The 1st one will be about things that really piss me off in the game! This week I watched a video from a Yugituber that usually comes up with good material but this time his video was …. Hmmm how can I say this … Stupid … Nabish … Both … Yeah I guess that defines it well! The guy was comparing 2 cards that can’t even be compared. Can you compare 2 cards that cannot even be played in the same deck? The answer is no. This is an example of cards I can compare.
Waboku VS Threatning Roar
*I could have used Thunder Ruler instead of Waboku but the answer is too obvious. Why can I compare these 2 cards? Simply because even if they don’t have the same effect they serve the exact same purpose which is “Protect your monsters from physical destruction and protect your life points”. They are also both normal trap cards which make them easier to compare because they have the same advantages and disadvantages.
Answer: Threatening Roar > Waboku
Reason: Waboku don’t prevent your opponent from attacking, in other words Waboku do not protect you from Gladiator Beasts effects when they attack.
This is the kind of argument I wana hear when people tell me one card is better than another. Also when you say that one card is better than another, please make sure that those cards can be played in the same decks; otherwise say something like “XXXX over YYYY in ZZZZ deck because of this and this”. When you say something like that, you are giving your opinion and people can respect it or debate it with you but that’s ok right?
With that said, let’s go back to the main point of this rant. Why would someone compare Dimensional Fissure with Macro Cosmos? On top of that how can you say that Macro Cosmos is a better card than Dimensional Fisure. How can you say without any doubt that one card is better than another. The truth is that those cards cannot be compared because you don’t play them for the same reasons.
Macro Cosmos VS Dimensional Fissure
Macro Cosmos ups - Speed 2 continuous trap card. When this card is set your opponent might waste his - - MST using it blindly targeting the wrong card. - Remove even XYZ Materials from play - Prevent Inzektors from sending “Equip Monsters” to the graveyard.
Downs - The activation of this card can be negated by Solemn Warning. - This card can be negated with Royal Decree which is a popular card in side decks. - You have to set Macro Cosmos for a whole turn to be able to activate it. - Remove XYZ materials from play - Prevent Inzektors from sending “Equip Monsters” to the graveyard
Dimesnional Fissure Ups - Can be activated on the same turn you draw it to prevent cards like Effect Veiler and - Maxx c (Yes you can always chain maxx c to DF’s activation but who will blind Maxx C?) - This card is immune to Royal Decree. - The activation of this card cannot be negated by Solemn Warning - Do not remove XYZ Materials - Do not prevent Inzektors from sending “Equip Monsters” to the graveyard.
Downs - Do not Banish XYZ Materials. - Do not prevent Inzektors from sending “Equip Monsters” to the graveyard. - This card cannot be activated on your opponent’s turn wich suppress the surprise effect.
As you can see some ups of those cards can be downs in some situation/decks and vice versa. That’s the reason why these 2 cards are not played on the same decks and why you cannot compare them. You cannot say “Hey Macro Cosmos is better than Dimensional Fissure so I will take out my Dimensional Fissures in my Wind-up side deck and put some Macro Cosmos instead” that will be dumb. Now if your deck is not affected by any of those cards just choose the card you like better. Take in consideration all the ups and downs of both cards and choose the card that suits you more and you know how we call that? That’s player’s preference.
Another thing that bothers me is this kind of noobs: “You should side macro cosmos because it’s a good against Wind-ups” Really… that’s your argument … I mean even if I had Macro Cosmos in my side deck, I will never count it as a side against Wind-ups, I will have something more conventional in the side board against them.
I’m pretty sure that reading this you think that I prefer Dimensional Fissure to Macro Cosmos but don’t get me wrong here. I prefer Dimensional Fissure in explosive decks Geargia Karakuri because I run enough traps already in the deck (I don’t wana be shut down by royal decree on game 2) and I like the fact that I can just activate from the hand and play around veiler and Maxx c but that’s just me and I will never try to convince you that Dimensional Fissure is better in Geargia Karakuri because its not true. If I would be running Dino Rabbit then I will definitely be playing Macro Cosmos because Dino Rabbit is like an anti meta new generation and Macro Cosmos definitely counter more decks.
You know the Yugioh community can be pretty mean to nabs so next time you say one card is better than another make sure you can back it up. Remember that if you talk like a nab, people will treat you like a nab. Thx for reading guyz, I will continue watching Yugioh videos on youtube and write rants about things that pisses me off or things I like. Don’t forget to leave your comments and if you have any special request just post it.

| Lol when I saw the title, I thought it was going to be a rant about noobs on DN xD But yes, it's pure idiocy to compare two unlike cards and insist that one of them HAS to be better than another.
Nice writing, good grammarz!

| Like I told you yesterday: Good rant, Scorp.
Player preference is a dangerous word to throw around though. I know what you mean in the article , but people use the word to justify shitty card/deck choices.
"I like Birdman in Agents, it's player preference" "I like Gladiator Beasts more than Wind-Ups, that's why I run them" or even: "you can run 2 or 3 MSTs, it's preference"
There should always be a logical reason for running certain cards. Some cards are better than others and some decks are better than others. They are just outlets that help you win, don't forget that! You should always run the one that gives you the best chances of winning!
For example, Torrential Tribute is a good card(in most decks) ,regardless of whether you love it or hate it. Your feelings for the card don't make the card better or worse.
Besides that, you shouldn't develop feelings for cards, that's just fucking weird. o_O
anyways, +1 to the beer count.

| I absolutely agree. Why compare two cards that basically do the same thing? Except one obviously gives a better advantage in this case. This goes back to the whole "Breakthrough Skill vs Effect Veiler vs Fiendish Chain" thing I brought a little while back. You can't compare cards that serve different purposes. Yeah. You hit it right on the money with this one, +1 for sure! | |
