Duality negations

So this happened to me during one of our local tournaments and this is the scenario:
Opponent has Void Ogre Dragon on field, I have Pot of Duality and A Hero Lives! in my hand, if I activate one and my opponent chooses to negate it, can the other card be activated still?? In other words, if I activate my Pot of Duality and he negates it, can I still activate A Hero Lives! ? And vice versa.

if the activation of either of those cards is negated then the other can be activated.

so like, in cases wherein you summon BLS and your opponent uses his solemn warning to it you could still use PoD?

inherent monster summons are treated differently. if you attempt an inherent special summon and the summon is negated then you cannot activate Duality that turn, but if the activation of a card that special summons is negated then you may activate Duality that turn
