This has always been one of my favorite decks, but it lost a lot of steam when Tengu got hit to 2, Heavy was unbanned, and MST went to 3. It hasn't recovered a lot since then. Sure it was still playable but Scraps could abuse Tengu better than almost anything else, Scrap Dragon's effect become a +1 that made way for a synchro and another possible plus.
Now, Redox gives Scraps that extra boost that Scraps need. He works so well in here, it seems like it was almost designed to. Not only can two of him make a Dracossack (or Big Eye, I'm still testing both), but he can discard himself and an earth monster to summon ANYTHING from grave. Reviving from grave is what Scraps do best. It also helps you set up the grave with more tuners or a dead Golem in hand. Discard Redox and Golem and you can summon Golem and use Golem's eff to get a tuner from grave. Scrap loop is initiated, and you haven't even normal summoned yet. Everything in the deck is earth except for Gorz, and 6 of those cards are searchable by Scrapyard. Once you get a Scrap loop going, it's hard to stop. It's not impossible to stop, they can Big Eye your Scrap Dragon, banish Golem from grave, or CED or Veiler him. But it's usually only a temporary setback, if Veiler, they bought themselves one turn, if CED, Redox can chuck Golem back and summon him (or scrap Dragon) from grave. Redox opens accessibility to Celestial Dragon, a great new level 11 synchro that is guaranteed at least one turn of invulnerability to attack for 3200 damage. I'd also like to run Big Eye, Maestroke, Lavalval Chain, Naturia Landoise, Naturia Barkion, Gaia Knight, and Catastor but I can only have room for one of them. I think everything else in my extra is absolutely needed. Except maybe Zenmaines.

The trap lineup is great, even stuff that i usually don't like as much even though they're good this format are even more awesome here, namely CED and Chain. Chain can just stay there negating effects until you pop it with Scrap. Or if the monster leaves the field but isn't destroyed it stays there waiting to be popped. I would really like to make room for at least one Call of the Haunted. It works so well for the same reason as Chain and CED. The best part about my traps is I can run stuff like Iron Wall or Soul Drain, even in main if I want to play a tourney, and not give a crap about it. If it's not being helpful I just pop it with Scrap Dragon.

What do you guys think? Does it have potential? Any fixes or suggestions?

Don't wanna sound like a complete ass, but doesn't Prophecy (Kycoo,Jowgen,Spellbook of Fate, etc.) completely shred this deck to pieces?

I know you are going to continue to play it anyways, so I'd drop the Mirror Forces for a 3rd CED and 3rd Maxx "C" for starters.

Oddly enough , I haven't even bumped into prophecy yet, but yes I would imagine it is by far the worst match up. My strength comes from popping the opponents field but prophecy don't have much of a field usually. But it is in the top two decks so that shouldn't be surprising. This is tier 2. As you can probably tell, this is the general version of the deck, not the tournament version, which would be filled with prophecy hate in the side and probably the main for reasons I mentioned above. I'll try the suggestion out, thanks. What should my side be for the tournament version?

Tournament version?

Of Scraps?

In 2013?

Redox does not competitive a deck make.

Also, I disagree with Guts a little bit, because I'd rather take out the MSTs (or Heavy) than the Forces (possibly Dark Hole too), but either the spells or the traps are expendable. At least for this format, anyways.

They both suck. Mirror Force completely sucks against Dragons because of Dracossack and because the Dragons can revive themselves anyways.

MST sucks in the main, because Dragons barely play any backrow.

-2 MST
-2 Mirror
+1 Maxx
+1 CED
+2 DPrison (does better against Dracossack)

Might main Deck Lockdown. Thoughts on that? And I could use help on the side. The format won't last much longer though.

Scrap Deck Empty
PostSubject: Re: Scrap Deck   Scrap Deck EmptyMon Aug 12, 2013 2:33 pm

Updated the deck a bit. Got excited to see Blackwings will be slightly better this coming format, but then I realized it would actually be cheaper to finish Scraps irl than Blackwings. Go figure. I've had most of the deck for a while now. I have:

Monsters: 11

3x Scrap Chimera
3x Scrap Beast
3x Scrap Goblin
1x Scrap Golem
1x Summoner Monk

Spells: 12

3x Scrapstorm
3x Scrapyard
1x Monster Reborn
1x Dark Hole
1x Heavy Storm
1x Mind Control
1x Foolish Burial
1x Book of Moon

Traps: 9

3x Compulsory Evacuation Device
2x Torrential Tribute
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
1x Solemn Judgment
1x Solemn Warning

Extra: 4

1x Stardust Dragon
1x Black Rose Dragon
1x Scrap Archfiend
1x Number 39 - Utopia

I've ordered 3 Dragons and Twin Dragons, a Crimson Blader, Maestroke, 2nd Monk, and Zenmaines. So the extra is going to soon be there, except Star Eater and Dracossack, which are both insanely expensive and situational to summon anyway. So I have 2 slots, the question is what to fill them with. What XYZ can do something Scrap Dragon can't? Cowboy seems like an obvious choice but $20+ for something I will rarely summon seems like a waste. Same with Lavalval Chain. I can order Redoxes, Maxxes, and 2Chainz, but Redox will drop in price after the banlist so I'm waiting even though I can afford them now. Maxx isn't bad but is still kinda expensive. Plus I want your opinion with Maxx vs Veiler. Bc without Star Eater Redox is just Reborn, but with Veiler it's a level 8 synchro. Not an optimal play but...yeah. Maxx seems better this format and in Scraps though, espeiclaly with Redox. I'm thinking I might run Moles (earth and great anti meta) or Thunder Kings or Kycoos or Tengus or something too, not sure. And I'll probably run MSTs again (Fire Fist...). Thoughts for the next format? What should I fill the last 2 extra slots with? Any other fixes?

Wow, I got -1 rep and a "not cool" for a sarcastic, in-jest remark. I think I'm just going to go sit in a corner and cry myself to sleep now. I need a full night to let these nasty wounds heal...

---

You may want to try to pick up some random staple-ish Rank 4s like Abyss Dweller, maybe a pair of EEVs and Crazy Box depending on how powerful EEV is going to be. If you want another Lv. 8 Synch, grab Colossal or Thought Ruler (eh), or even RDA. Those are pretty much your other options besides Stardust, Scrap and Blader.

Also, Veiler seems like it'll be a good bit better next format, since it looks like things will be slowing down quite a lot and decks like Fire Fists don't like it. Maxx would still be relevant for matchups against 3-axis and stuff like Kuris or Infernities, but I dunno how much of an impact the latter two will have, if any, and the hype train on 3-axis got slowed a bit by this banlist. Honestly, I don't like either one overly much at this point.

Scrap Deck Empty
PostSubject: Re: Scrap Deck   Scrap Deck EmptyTue Aug 13, 2013 12:24 am

Scraps weren't competitive the past format. Dragons have Big Eye,Dracossack and a shit load of hand traps to make sure Scrap Chimera doesn't go off in the first place.Plus, they revive themselves so popping with Scrap Dragon doesn't matter.
Prophecy just outadvantages you and rapes you with Spellbook of Fate ,Jowgen and Kycoo. I don't even want to talk about Evilswarms and Constellars, Ophion and Pleiades just end you.

And the forthcoming format won't be different. Pleiades,Ophion,Key Beetle locks,Cardinal, etc. Scrap Dragon is outed too easily.

That's what Gallade wanted to say. He just did it in an asshole way.

I'm not saying this to be rude or to offend you. I'm just realistic. If it's your pet deck and you just wanna play it for fun at a Local or something, who am I to stop you?
Just don't call it competitive. Six Sams are my favorite deck of all time , but they completely sucked last format, because Dragons and Evilswarm would have just demolished them.
It's not competitive if it can't compete against most relevant decks. Don't call it competitive or Tier 2 just to feel better about the deck.

Scrap Deck Empty
PostSubject: Re: Scrap Deck   Scrap Deck EmptyThu Aug 15, 2013 2:33 pm

O.o did I say anywhere something like "I am going to beat everything easily with this deck next format?" No, I said I was going to update BW with some of the techs you had but realized it would be cheaper to finish this and a change since I always play BW irl so why not? It's not as bad as you both are making it seem, nor is it meta. I posted this here so I could get suggestions on maybe some techs that will give me an edge against bad matchups. The Scrap engine is really only 10 monsters, Monks are good tech. But plenty of room for whatever, I could play whatever would make it better, so that's why I want your opinions before I buy sub par stuff. I did not post it so you could tell me how bad it is. I get it. It's not the best deck out there. It's in casual decks for a reason...

If it's the title bothering you or something I can change it I guess...

Well, did we say anywhere that you said it? Nope! What a surprise!

Honestly, it should not be half as big a deal as it is, so chill out, be a bit less defensive, and do whatever floats your proverbial boat in terms of the deck (and ignore us if what we're saying is far shirt of music to your ears). It's not like we don't play decks like these sometimes and all... Hell, 4-axis is the first legit Tier 1 deck I've piloted IRL, and I started last week.

And by the by, the title bothers me less than a different designation of supposed competitiveness you have, but I'm gonna save that for a future, individual, not single-outy rant. So I'm not gonna make qualms there.
