PostSubject: Hello there.   Sun Dec 23, 2012 2:32 am

Hi there, I'm MNOPYZ.

What does my name stand for? Please don't ask Razz

I love using and playing against Unique, Underused, and Fun decks.
I hate meta, and I wouldn't use it no matter what.

What else...hmm...

...Well, I like hosting Tournaments every now and then, I've made over 130 decks because I love trying everything out there, and I'm the Captain of [LOR].

I hope I'll have fun here Smile

I've never been a fan of "I hatehatehate meta" people, but you seem cool enough. *shotshotshot*

Yeah I dislike meta, I wouldn't say I hate it, but I don't like it either.

It's not the opinion as much as it is the fact that the vendetta by so many people (generalizing here) against it is illogical, unwavering, and gives the person a ceiling on how good they'll get because they're so deadset against a certain deck(s) or certain card(s). Like, I have a friend who refuses to play cards he deems OP, like Dark Hole, Heavy, Catastor, BLS... that, and he's one of those people who still thinks Glads are really skillful and relevant. I mean, I play a lot of fun or not-really-competitive decks (Watts, Naturia Plants, Rabbit Acid Burn, Falcon Control), but at the same time I have to know the meta, play the meta, etc. to really get good at this game, and, well, winning is pretty damn fun, you gotta admit.

Plus, decks like Wind-Ups or Merlanteans, when you playthem, are actually really fun for a lot of people because they're skillful, can come up with broken plays, and yet despite the possible inherent brokenness of them, are fun and rewarding.

tl;dr The majority of people who are deadset against the meta have a glass ceiling they built themselves. And again, I'm generalizing, not pointing fingers.

Lol i don't play wind-ups nor ever will not because they are broken they just don't interest me, same with mermails, inzektors and chaos dragons. Although, I've played most of the other meta decks.

Even if you hate them, you have to know how they work and how to play against them.
You can't just ignore them, otherwise you will get destroyed.

Only reason why you would play rogue over top-tier is because it's a good meta call.

This is from a purely competitive standpoint, though. OBVIOUSLY if you're going to play competitively, you cannot just ignore and hate the meta.

However, from a more 'fun' point of view on the game, you should still know how they work and possibly even try them out, just because you very well might be surprised about how much you like a deck (I have before, for sure), and because knowing those decks and winning more IS fun. Razz

From a fun point of view, you can do anything you want.

Fun is a subjective feeling. For me boxing is fun , for other people reading books is fun , to some people doing drugs is fun, etc.

There's no point in fixing a fun deck, how the hell I'm supposed to know what is fun to
another person? how am I going to make his deck more fun?
Only he knows what's fun for him.

imo competitive YGO is logical , casual YGO is not.

I do have pet decks, too and I'm not saying that winning is all that matters.
I combine the fun/competitive elements.
To me competitive YGO is fun, if it wasn't I'd stop playing.
